CHAMPS CROWNED AT NORTH CHELMSFORD LANES
The duckpin bowling season has ended at North Chlemsford lanes. Ron Pratt of North Chelmsford was the top bowler for the 2011-2012 campaign. Pratt averaged 135.57 for 90 games in the Wednesday night league. The high game of the season was 205, bowled by Rob Skene of Boston in the Wednesday night league. Skene is a former candlepin bowler, who has taken a liken to the great game of duckpin bowling. Skene also had the high triple for the season of 490, which he bowled in the league championship roll-off. He led his team to the roll-off win. Other top scores in the roll-off were, Bruce Harper of Westford 387, Walter Zsafran 338, and Phil French of Tewksbury 427. Phil used to own The Wamesit Lanes in Tewksbury where the Home Depot is today.
In the North Chelmsford Thursday night duckpin league action, captain Joe Nolet's team took the league by storm in 2011-2012, as the ran away with the first hakf, winning 100 points for the half. Nolet's team team didn't let up in the 2nd half, as Dan Harmer led the way. Nolet's team won both half's, and the 2011-2012 league championship. Joe is the propierter of Nolet Brothers landscape Inc. of Tyngsboro. The high average bowler on Thursday night was Jim Hall of North Chelmsford, averaging 133.15 for the season. The league took their annual trip to Foxwoods casino on May 5th, for the end of season gathering.
Th St Margaret's bowling league bowls Friday night's at North Chelmsford lanes. This league has been in existence since 1940, bowling in many of greater Lowell's duckpin bowling alleys that were around in past years. Ray Beaulieu of Dracut was the high average bowlers in the league, averaging 121.34. Steve Nocella of Lowell had the high single od 196, and Mike Gagnon had the high triple 0f 466. Rick's team won the league championship in convincing fashion, winng the roll-off match by 98 pins, The winning team scores were, Dave LeClerc of Dracut 348, Scott Welcome of Lawrence 290, Greg Bettoncourt of Lowell 335, Rick LaFlamme of Tyngsboro 337, and George Ralls of Lowell 306. George has been bowling in the St Margarets bowling league for 56 years.
